Greening Our Lands, Growing Our Future – Plantation Initiatives By Deeksha

At DEEKSHA, we believe that the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time? This July.

With the arrival of the monsoon, we are delighted to share two meaningful plantation initiatives that will take root under DEEKSHA’s banner this coming month – each unique in its purpose, yet united by a common vision: a greener, healthier Punjab and India.

Plantation at Alal Majra & Adjoining Villages

After three good rains have cooled, softened the soil and awakened the earth, DEEKSHA plans to launch a plantation drive in Village Alal Majra and the neighbouring rural belt. This region, with its hardworking communities and vast open landscapes, offers the perfect area for environmental restoration. Besides saplings of fruit bearing trees, we aim to plant native, climate-resilient species that will support local biodiversity, provide shade, and help revive the green character of the countryside.

Our field team has been working closely with village elders and youth groups to identify suitable areas. Towards the mid of July, we would start the preparation of the ground. This is not just a plantation – it is a community movement. Quiet but powerful.

School-Led Plantation in Ropar District

Simultaneously, DEEKSHA will carry out a vibrant plantation campaign along with a selected school in a rural area of Ropar District, with enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and volunteers. There is something magical about a child planting a sapling – it’s hope made visible. By involving young minds in this hands-on initiative, we plan to sow seeds of environmental consciousness that will last a lifetime.

Educators will guide students through the process, explaining the importance of tree cover, ecological balance, and local flora. Together, we will transform their schoolyard and the selected rural area into lush, green, and buzzing habitats replete with life.

These two efforts – one deeply rooted in community, the other growing through youthful energy – represent DEEKSHA’s holistic approach to environmental care.
